Trivia
- He had two brothers who were Jesuit priests (writer/philosopher Xavier Gómez Robledo and theologian Ignacio Gómez Robledo).
- Entered the Mexican Foreign Service in 1936 and served as a diplomat around the world.
- Represented Mexico at the Organization of American States (OAS) from 1951 to 1954.
- Served as Mexico's ambassador to Italy (1967–1971) and was involved in repatriating the remains of Francisco Javier Clavijero to Mexico.
