Poor health and psychological distress1966–1977Her health declined from 1966 onward; she turned toward spirituality and associated with the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. Her declining health and distress culminated in her death by jumping in front of a train in 1977.
Legacy
Recognized as one of the major female poets in Odia literature. Her works were used in educational settings, and her 1957 collected poems received the Odisha Sahitya Academy Award in 1962.
