Prominent South African jurist and former Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court. Joined anti-apartheid struggle at 14, imprisoned on Robben Island for 10 years where he befriended Nelson Mandela. Renowned for independent jurisprudence on corruption, property law, affirmative action, and human rights. Served as executor of Mandela's will and appointed ad hoc ICJ judge in 2024.
