Set in a fishing village on Hainan Island, the novel explores intergenerational memories of sea and land, migration and solitude, and how people cope with waves of modernization. It weaves local oral traditions and island landscapes into a quiet depiction of loss and renewal.
A collection of stories about island life and migration; small miracles and fragments of daily existence. Includes fabulist pieces incorporating dialect and local legends.
Through works centered on Hainan's nature and culture, the author drew attention to regional literature and reaffirmed the importance of place-rooted storytelling. Known for mentoring younger writers and participating in regional literary events.
The sea carries memories that do not disappear. We must only learn how to listen for them.
