Gamal al-Ghitani was a leading Egyptian writer from the late 20th to early 21st century, known for historical novels and experimental prose. He served for many years as editor-in-chief of the prominent literary magazine Akhbar Al-Adab and contributed to the promotion of Arab literary culture. He received multiple national and international awards and left a significant influence on contemporary Arabic literature.
