Legacy

Served as the 9th ruler of Sharjah from 1965 to 1972 and was one of the founding figures of the United Arab Emirates in 1971. He established a formal police force in Sharjah and ordered partial demolition of Sharjah Fort (later partially preserved and restored by his brother). His rule ended when he was killed in an attempted coup in January 1972.
