Legacy

Soviet artist and children's book illustrator. Won the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration in 1976, the only Russian recipient until 2018. Her illustrations for children's fairy tales were in the style of the Russian lubok.

Trivia

  • Born Tatyana Lebedev; adopted her mother's maiden name Mavrina in 1930.
  • Her brother was Sergey Lebedev, creator of the first Soviet computer.
