Vijaya Rajadhyaksha is a significant scholar and writer in Marathi literary criticism. Her Sahitya Akademi Award (1993), presidency of the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (Indore, 2001), and receipt of a lifetime honour (2010) contributed to the understanding and dissemination of contemporary Marathi literature.
