Legacy

Wang Jiaxiang was an early leader of the Chinese Communist Party who helped consolidate Mao Zedong's leadership during the Yan'an period. After the founding of the PRC he served as the first ambassador to the Soviet Union and held senior party and foreign affairs posts. He fell victim to political struggles during the Cultural Revolution and died in 1974. He remains a significant figure in modern Chinese political history.
