Description
The C.P. Hoogenhout Award was established in 1960 by the South African Library Association to recognize original Afrikaans children's books (especially picture books) for children aged 7–12. Originally awarded annually, it has been held biennially since 1982. From 2000 onwards, it has received sponsorship from the SALI Trust, and winners are presented with a gold medal.
