Description
The Cundill History Prize, established in 2008 by Peter Cundill and administered by McGill University, is awarded annually to the author of the best history book published in the previous year. It recognizes historical scholarship, originality, literary quality and broad appeal. The grand prize is US$75,000; two additional Recognition of Excellence prizes of US$10,000 are also awarded. There are no restrictions on topic or the nationality of the author; translations are permitted (with prize shares split for translated works). Winners are selected by a jury of prominent historians and writers chosen by McGill University.
