Description
The Exclusive Books Boeke Prize was a South African book prize sponsored by Exclusive Books and loosely modelled on the Booker Prize. Awarded from 1995 to 2012, it was given primarily to novels written in English. The award frequently recognised debut novels (12 of the first 19 winners were debuts). The books were judged by a panel of book critics (about 40 critics in 2008); several winners later had film adaptations.
