Description
The Fontane Prize of the City of Neuruppin (Fontane Literature Prize) is a literature award re-established by the City of Neuruppin in 1994, and since 2019 jointly awarded by the City of Neuruppin and the State of Brandenburg. It targets writers active in Brandenburg who have already achieved initial literary success, and the winner receives a total of €40,000 as a grant over 24 months. Winners are selected by external judges, and the prize is announced biennially. The prize has predecessors dating back to 1913 and is part of the lineage of the Fontane Prize in East and West.
