Description

The Premio Aztlán Literary Prize is an American literary award for emerging Chicana and Chicano (Chicana/Chicano) writers, established in 1993 by Rudolfo and Patricia Anaya. Initially sponsored by the University of New Mexico, it was transferred to the National Hispanic Cultural Center in 2008. Eligible works are short story collections or novels (excluding children's books and young adult works) published the previous year by professional publishers. Authors must be alive and have two or fewer prior publications. The winner receives $1,000 and an opportunity to speak at the National Latino Writers Conference of the same year.
