Description

Premio Iberoamericano Planeta-Casa de América de Narrativa was a literary prize started in 2007 for unpublished fiction written in Spanish. The purpose of the award was to promote Spanish-language fiction in Latin American countries, sponsored by Grupo Planeta (Editorial Planeta) and Casa de América. The judging panel consisted of 5 members (1 representative from Editorial Planeta, 1 from Casa de América, 3 experts in Latin American literature), with the winner receiving US$200,000 and the runner-up US$50,000. It was usually announced in a designated Latin American capital around March each year, with many submissions (e.g., over 600 in 2010) and selection conducted in stages. Canceled in 2010 due to the Chile earthquake, and discontinued after 2012.
