Description
Prix Décembre (formerly Prix Novembre) is one of France's premier literary prizes. Founded in 1989 as Prix Novembre by Michel Dennery, it was renamed in 1998 when Pierre Bergé became the new patron following the founder's resignation over controversy surrounding the award to Michel Houellebecq's novel Les Particules élémentaires. The prize is currently supported by the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent. It primarily awards French-language literary works, mainly novels, and is announced annually in late October. The prize was worth €30,000 until 2017 and has been €15,000 since 2019.
