Description
The Prix du Cercle du livre de France is a literary prize created by the Quebec publishing house Le Cercle du livre de France with the aim of promoting Quebec authors. Established in 1950, the prize was awarded intermittently through the decades; some years had no recipient (1962, 1970, 1972, 1976). From 1977 to 1985 it was sponsored by Esso Canada and during that period was renamed the Prix littéraire Esso du Cercle du livre de France. The award ceased in 1985. Recipients include notable Quebec authors such as André Langevin, Bertrand Vac, Claire Martin, Claude Jasmin, and Louise Maheux-Forcier.
