Description
Established in 1995. Awarded to works translating contemporary Italian poetry into English (not self-published). The award is given once a year, alternating formats every other year: one year a book award with $10,000 cash (USD), the next year a fellowship at the American Academy in Rome with $20,000 (for research, travel, and production support). Operated by the Academy of American Poets, with funds managed by The New York Community Trust from the bequest of Sonia Raiziss Giop.
