Description

The Tasmanian Premier's Literary Prizes (now Tasmanian Literary Awards) is a literary prize hosted by the Tasmanian state government, established in 2007. Originally held biennially in multiple categories (such as book categories and emerging categories), with selections conducted by two judging panels (3 members each). In September 2021, the name was changed to Tasmanian Literary Awards, eligibility was limited to Tasmanian residents, and categories were reorganized into 6 divisions (fiction, non-fiction, young readers and children, Indigenous writing, poetry and short stories, young writers fellowship). Notable categories include Tasmania Book Prize (best book related to Tasmania), Margaret Scott Prize (best work by a Tasmanian-origin author), University of Tasmania Prize (formerly best book by Tasmanian publishers, targeting unpublished works by emerging Tasmanian writers since 2013), Tasmanian Young Writer's Fellowship (support for young writers), and others. Winners for each year are listed on the official website and Wikipedia records.
