Reviews
-
A very entertaining story.

I am pretty sure I read this book at least 30 years ago when it first came out. Still have a hardcover copy. Thought about it recently and wanted to reread it. Although I found some of the characters, very believable and compelling, it jumps around for many years with no information and then, suddenly, quite detailed information. I thought the end was somewhat abrupt. But overall, I liked it.

Well-written multi-generational family saga set in eastern Canada. Characters well delineated and representative of the times. Although presented in a non-sentimental manner, the reader nevertheless is soon involved in the lives of this family.

This was an interesting book - easy to read. Following the life of a family through several years allowed for personal reflection and understanding.
