• About the audio book: I love the voice and the way she reads!

  I bought the audio book and I love the way the reader reads it. Her accent is British English (it makes sense, because the book is written by a British author) and she reads beautifully. It is as if she were acting.

  言わずと知れた宮崎アニメ『借り暮らしのアリエッティ』の原作。 もし、私の家の床下に 小さな人たちが家族で暮らしていて、 なくしてしまったり、 いつのまにかどこかへいってしまった私の物を、 大事に工夫して使っている、 そう考えるとちょっと楽しい？ それとも、ちょっと怖い？ そんな小さな人たちのある家族。 PodとHomily夫婦、 そして一人娘のArrietty。 彼らは、 大きな人間に見られると お引っ越しをしなくてはならない。 でも、お引っ越しはたいへんなこと。 食べ物はどうするの？ 家具もなにもかもない。 お料理はどこでするの？ だから、静かにひっそりと暮らしている。 大きな人の家に物を“借り”に行くのは、Podの役目。 Arriettyは、一度も外に出たことがない。 でも、Podだけに頼りきりというわけにもいかない。 そろそろArrittyも“借り”てくる練習をしなければ…。 というわけで、 いよいよArriettyも、 あこがれの地上世界へとやってくるのだが、 そこで、 一人の少年にみつかってしまう。 英語は、中級レベルであればストーリーを追うのに問題はないと思う。 ただし、単語は少し難しく、 物の名前がわかれば、 もっと“借り暮らし”の地下の生活が容易に想像できるだろう。

• This is a very interesting book.

  It is about little people who live under the floorboards of a large house. There is a father, a mother, and a daughter and the father has to go out and take things from the house for them to use. They are the only little people left in the house, leaving the daughter curious about what has happened to the rest of the "Borrowers." The English is quite difficult, though, considering that it is a children's book.

• チャーミングな物語

  日本では「床下の小人たち」として訳されているこの本。生活必需品をなんでも床上の人間から借りてきてしまうからこのタイトルがついています。人間にみられないように物を借りてくる生活というのはさぞかしスリリングでしょう。Borroｗersのために人間がいるのよ！という彼らの考え方も面白い。daだから、生活は借り暮らしで、盗んではいないと。もしそうなら、なぜ見られてはいけないのかな？？子供の頃に読んだこのシリーズ、続きも読んでみたいですね。

  映画は見てないが、どういう話か興味があったので買ってみました。 子供向けなので、英文は必ずしも平易とは言えないが、読みにくいわけでもありません。 平和に暮らしていた床下の一家が、療養に来ていた少年に見つかり、親切にしてもらっていたが、意地悪な家政婦に見つかってしまう……

  Incredible value. Lovely story - our 5 year old boy is in love with Arrietty from the anime. He follows the book read to him surprisingly well.

• Very descriptive, lovely read

  Having watched the movie as a child, I was very curious to read the book as an adult and I can honestly say, I was not dissapointed! Such a lovely read and such depth to the characters. Very descriptive book and has a lot of deeper life lessons hidden within the story. Certainly worth a read for children and adults alike

• Love it

  I like kids books. I read these to my son before he went to school. He was forever checking under things in case there were borrowers . I would hope that they put the other books in this series on kindle. By the way he turned 41 this year and when he asked me what I was reading I told him this and he laughed and said classic.
