A Painted Field
A Painted Field is a poetry collection that moves through landscape, memory, and politics. Its restrained voice lets image and repetition build emotional pressure.
Work Information
A compact poetry collection shaped by landscape and memory.
A Painted Field returns repeatedly to landscape, memory, and politics, building a collection from exact images and low-key tension. The result is controlled on the surface but lingering in its aftereffects.

This collection includes Robertson's version of Ovid, "The Flaying of Marsyas", and "Camera Obscura", in which he uses the imagined diary of David Octavius Hill, counterpointed by a narrative of the city of Edinburgh, to portray a life in crisis and the last flowering of the Scottish enlightenment.
Reviews
-
Ancient celtic bardic tradition alive and well
The only poet of true power and command of language worth reading nowadays.

Critic I am not .
I am not equipped to do reviews. I like poetry but that does not make me a critic. Poetry most of all. Poetry is totally subjective... .and should b. I can say I like something , but that is of no help for someone who has demands in reading a legitimate review by some one with the background and education to give the public an opinion. Opinion, of itself, is not criticism.

but I like that!
Have 'The Spanish Dancer' & 'II. Defrosting' as poems that capture the event well. Some poems are beyond me, but I like that!
