PETER SPIER was one of America's most popular and renowned children's illustrators. His books, acclaimed by critics and readers alike, won numerous awards and honors: Noah's Ark won the Caldecott Medal and The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night is a Caldecott Honor Book. His book People was awarded the Christopher medal, was nominated for an American Book Award, and received the National Mass Media Award from the National Conference of Christians and Jews for "outstanding contributions to better human relations and the cause of brotherhood." Spier was born and educated in Amsterdam. Before coming to the United States he served in the Royal Dutch Navy. He illustrated more than 100 books and was also an avid and celebrated builder of model ships. Peter Spier died in 2017 at the age of 89.

絵を見て、内容が理解できます７、５、３歳のこどもと楽しんでいます 食い入るように眺めたり、細かいところを指差してみたり。 どうして一組だけなの？みんな乗れたの？どの位乗っていたの？など、質問が次々飛んできました 最後に、船の中が汚れているところも、こどもたちは気がついて驚いていました とても素敵な絵本です

Peter Spierのコルデコット賞受賞作品
ノアの箱舟をテーマにした絵本です。 基本的に文字を使わずに、絵のみでストーリーを語っています。 ノアが作り上げた箱舟によって、多くの動物たちが洪水の難を逃 れる様子が、細かく書き込まれた絵によって描かれています。 ただ、ノアが箱舟を作っているときに、「自分には関係ない」と 手伝わなかった人々が箱舟に乗ることができなかったという、物 語の示唆の部分は伝わってきません。 まあ、そのへんはこの本の趣旨ではないのかもしれませんが。 Peter Spierは絵本作家として著名な人で、この本もコルデコッ ト賞(CALDECOTT MEDAL)を受賞しています。

Excellent! Not much words in the book but hence I can explain easily in my language (non English). Described in details and shown some backgrounds that not many kid's Noahs Ark book shows. Bought it for my 24 month old daughter and she loves it. Can recommend without hesitation.
