In David Wiesner’s whimsical and elegant New York Times bestseller and Caldecott Medal–winner, the events of a delightfully unpredictable Tuesday invite readers to find the potential for the wondrousness in every day. It begins on Tuesday evening, when the frogs suddenly start to float. . . . Thrill to the humorous cascading adventures that follow in a celebration of possibility unbounded—and of unexpected cause and effect. From the genius of international superstar and three-time Caldecott Medalist David Wiesner, this entertaining, thought-provoking, and nearly-wordless tale unrolls with the precision and clarity of a silent movie. Engaging for all ages, this beloved and innovative classic is a perfect gift to enthrall the young and the young at heart.

David Wiesner is internationally renowned for his visual storytelling and has won the Caldecott Medal three times—for Tuesday , The Three Pigs , and Flotsam —only the second person to ever do so. He is also the recipient of three Caldecott Honors, for Free Fall , Sector 7 , and Mr. Wuffles . He lives near Philadelphia with his family.

Reviews

  • Wonderful. But...

I ordered the library binding as a gift for a friend. When I opened the package to give it to my friend, I noticed that it was different from the library binding I had at home. I tried to return it, but I couldn't because it was already a month old. Rather than give my friend a paper bag that lacked vivid colors, I gave her a used book that I had at home. I hope they will be careful not to make this kind of mistake again. The content of the picture book is wonderful.

  • Nocturnal Frogs Having Fun? Count Me In!

I should be totally honest and let you know that I am a huge David Wiesner fan. Tuesday is another amazing picture book from David Weisner that has vivid, creative, and humorous illustrations that let you and the little ones run wild with your imaginations. The concept is so simple and yet so great - create your own story with some nocturnal frogs on a flying adventure in a suburban neighborhood! I quickly realized that long and wordy books, no matter how awesome, are not my friends when it comes to reading out loud to little ones as they can get tiring reading over and over again. I think this works well for kids 2 and older and is great for using your imagination since there's no written story and you can really create a lot of variations of the story. Little ones will remember the slight nuances in the "story" but will also love to hear slight variations. This book also gives kids a good opportunity to practice their own "storytelling" skills.

  • Overrated

I got this book based on the fact that it was one of the top 50 books for children. My 4yo son hated it. The graphics were well drawn but that was the extent of the positives. I could not recommend this as one of the must own books for children or adults.

  • Beautiful Book!

Tuesday is a wonderful book. This book is a great way to help children learn the skill of inferencing. I use this book in my classroom continually to demonstrate reading in between the lines to understand a text. Tuesday has very little words so the children look at the beautiful illustrations to follow the story. I highly recommend this book for teachers or really anyone that wants to share a beautiful story with their children! Enjoy!
