2016 Newbery Honor BookNew York Times BestsellerAn impassioned, uplifting, and virtuosic tour de force from a treasured storyteller! Lost and alone in a forbidden forest, Otto meets three mysterious sisters and suddenly finds himself entwined in a puzzling quest involving a prophecy, a promise, and a harmonica.Decades later, Friedrich in Germany, Mike in Pennsylvania, and Ivy in California each, in turn, become interwoven when the very same harmonica lands in their lives. All the children face daunting challenges: rescuing a father, protecting a brother, holding a family together. And ultimately, pulled by the invisible thread of destiny, their suspenseful solo stories converge in an orchestral crescendo.Richly imagined and masterfully crafted, Echo pushes the boundaries of genre, form, and storytelling innovation to create a wholly original novel that will resound in your heart long after the last note has been struck.

  • freaking incredible

I absolutely hate reading. We read this book over the course of about maybe four months at school, and at first glance, I thought I would hate it. It is super long, which I immediately disliked, and the first three parts connected but I didn't know how it would just blow up in the end. Each part is a completely different storyline, which I at first thought was stupid until part 4. Everything connected - and you really have to think about everything which I love. The ending was the absolute BEST ending I've ever read. ever. EVERYTHING made sense. I had to use my brain, and everything was a puzzle piece. I've never been a fan of magic and fantasy books - but this book had enough where it wasn't to much or not enough. It's a little bit hard to get into, but in the end it just goes together so beautifully. 100/10.

  • Una favola piena di emozione e speranza

Una storia avvincente, ricca di riferimenti storici, sempre avvincente e con un finale sorprendente. Raccomando la lettura, non solo per ragazze e ragazzi.

  • She was very pleased with it

This was a gift for my girlfriend. She was very pleased with it; this book has excellent reviews on Goodreads, one of the best new books. I don't usually review anything I buy from Amazon, but this book deserves more than just 1 review with 4 stars.
