Reviews

The Story of Doctor Dolittle

"The Story of Doctor Dolittle"の登場人物が再登場します。

  • A bit long, but quite interesting

The paternalistic colonialism of the lengthy stay on Spider Monkey island began to weary us after a while. But apart from that, it's a fantastic read even after all these years.

  • Amazing book! Every child should read this book and every child at heart, too! Thank you Lofting family for preserving this for us! Thoughtful “Afterword” section, too. For enhanced joy, read this outside with the sounds of birds and visions of animals scurrying.

  • My children love this book. Very entertaining and great to read aloud to them.

  • As good as I remember, a great and eccentric adventure story. Look out for dated attitudes - those these are mostly put in the beak of Polynesia the parrot. (Which is odd, since she comes from Africa?) Prince Bumpo reappears, now a student at Oxford where he's enjoying himself, though he can't get used to shoes. His face was whitened in an earlier story (yes, I know), but he has gone back to normal and prefers it. He has learnt an elaborate, malapropic way of talking at university (and from the fairy stories he loves). And you'll love the Giant Sea Snail. Now which is the one where they end up on a pirate ship?

  • I wonder whether a movie has been made based on the book!! an animation movie, with all the lovely animal sounds would make wonderful watching!!!

  • good
