Observer, Graphic Novel of the Month 'Carroll knows when to shock on the turn of a page and when to leave her horrors lurking' Independent 'Carroll has a mainline to the reader's psychic pressure points, the kind of fears and phobias that go all the way back to the cave.' Irish Times A contemporary gothic horror and comics classic, perfect for fans of Stephen King, Stranger Things and The Haunting of Hill House. I used to dream of Dragons. . . Abby is settling into married life: making coffee, cooking for David and her stepdaughter Crystal, spending evenings curled up together in front of the TV. For a quiet woman without many friends, she's proud of the life she has built, and desperately wants to believe they will all be happy. But what really happened to Crystal's mother, the artist who no-one speaks of? What secrets does their strange house by the water harbour, and what of Abby's old dreams and fears, of Lady Grey, the Knight and the Dragons? In their chilling return - a story of grief, ghosts, and the struggle to be true to oneself - E.M. Carroll casts another unforgettable spell.

  • Blind Buy Beauty

I'll be completely honest and say I'd never heard of the author, wasn't really looking for this book but stumbled onto it and my god was it one of the best blind purchases ever. The writing is stunning, surreal and very claustrophobic, leaving you feeling exactly as the protagonist feels and I have a feeling that was intentional. The art work is bar none some of the best I've ever seen. Blend these two together and you get the perfect medium for this story to be told. I'm immediately now looking into the author's other work. 15/10 just friggin buy it!

  • Emily Carroll’s Magnum Opus

The story has layers upon layers and uses colour and layout to generate ambiguity. So much so I find it has utterly bent my mind in the best way by the end, that I am planning a re read as soon as possible. The beautiful art style from Through the Woods is present along with a new neon gothic/ print style that is just delicious. Super likeable and relatable protagonist that is lovingly drawn too. I would not be surprised if this was made into a series or move eventually due to the level of detail and refreshing narrative perspectives within the pages. The imagination here is incredible - all in all this is like a classic spooky thriller, mixed with old tales of knights and dragons with a dash of fever dream mixed in. The ending is left open to interpretation somewhat so just to beware as some readers may not like that - I myself love it as it the story leaves questions long after reading has completed. There’s also many Reddit pages discussing it. Buy the book and see you on there ;)

  • Excelente

Holy shit.

  • Great story, great artwork
