Not a story
Not a story but a rendition of the slave experience from their point of view. A sad collection of anecdotes from real slaves as opposed to fictional tales depicting the same. I guess it makes this time in history real.

Heavy and powerful
Never heard of this book until I listened to a podcast featuring Judy Mowatt. I'm very glad I read it. These are the books that should be taught in schools. These are books we should be learning about. I loved reading these stories from actual slaves. Very triggering. Very insightful. Very powerful.
