Ellen loves Link and James. Her older brother and his best friend are the only company she ever wants. She knows they fight, but she makes it a policy never to take sides. She loves her brother, the math genius and track star. Garret Freymann-Weyr grew up in New York City and often sets her books there. She went to college at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and received an MFA in film from New York University. She has written four books for young adults, including My Heartbeat, which won a Printz Honor for excellence in literature for young adults. Her books have been published in numerous countries including the Netherlands, Japan, and China. She currently lives outside Washington, D. C., with her husband. She has said that the best way to get ideas is to read a lot. ?That gets you thinking in terms of story, character, and image.

この話はとてもシンプルで分かりやすいのですが、そのわりに話をよく考えて読まないと気づかない点もあり、短いですが読みごたえあると思います。 私はこの話の主人公と同じ歳なのですが、他の方のレビューにもあるように、中・高生のうちに読むのが一番面白いと思います。この本を図書館で見かけ、読んだら面白かったので購入しました。ずっと自分の頭に入れておきたいような、そんな不思議な気持ちになる本です。 私が小説を自分で買うのは初めてで、私の日ごろの生活で考えることを気づかせてくれた本だと思っています。実際にある町の名前、学校の名前、映画や小説の名前を使っているので、現実感を持ててとても面白いと私は思っています。

薄緑の紙にシンプルな線画の装丁。そこに惹かれて手に取った。 装丁のイラストが日本の女の子っぽいからか、アメリカならではのカルチャーがあまり出てこないからか、日本の女子中・高生の話の感覚で読めます。 主人公のお兄さんとその親友がもしかしたらゲイカップル？…っていうのが話の軸になるものの、そこだけを期待して読むとハズレかな。マイノリティの話を絡めた、「悩める少女のグローイングアップストーリー」が主題です。主人公（１４歳）と同世代の女の子はきっと面白く読めると思う！ ２０代の私としては、古い映画（ビデオ）や小説のタイトルが沢山でてくるのが楽しめましたヨ。

This story
I read this back when I was in middle school. I fell in love instantly, it was also the first book I read by this author andsince then I've read many more of her books and she's become my favorite author. This story is amazing and plays a large role in why I am so open minded to different ideas. It's a love story but not just between a boy and girl. It's also a love story between two boys,a brother and sister and a whole family. There's so many different kind of love and this story shows them all and makes the reader want to appreciate all. I would recommend this story to almost anyone.
