Beautiful combination of words and paintings. I use it in my children's literature class as a way to introduce my college students to the work of Langston Hughes. It goes well with Tony Medina's Love to Langston, a biography. I love the jazzy collage paintings and how they contrast and complement Hughes' great words. Highly recommended.

I will be using this book to share with my 3rd and 4th grade Art classes this year when we make collages and write poems about their own neighborhoods and block.

I wish it showcased more of the artwork. It is a huge piece of art and better images could have been used. I'm left under whelmed, sadly.

As an elementary art teacher, this is a great visual for students when teaching Romare Bearden. Will be able to use some of Hughes poems, but not all are appropriate.

OK, however, I would have chosen some different poems by the author as well as some different images from the artist. I am an art teacher.
