He, She And It
Marge Piercy's cyberpunk novel sets a story of women, cyborgs, and golems in a devastated future society. It explores the relationships among the body, family, and power.
Work Information
A landmark feminist SF novel where future ruin meets ancient myth.
In a future society dominated by corporations, the novel follows an artificial being created to protect a community and the people around it. Using mythic material, it asks questions of intimacy and politics at the same time.

Wunderbarer, aktuell gebliebener Social Fiction / Sci Fi Klassiker

Really good read
I was extremely impressed. Although not my style, I had to read it for a University class and it really did catch my attention. Excellent read.

Amazingly farsighted fir the time it was written
Oh wow. Where to start? Considering this was written in the late nineties, the way the author has predicted climate change and developments in computing is eerily magnificent. A wonderful read that will have you thinking about current events in a brand new light.

So addicting, such a great book!
This book is ruining my sleep by occupying too much time. Let me explain. I don't sleep too well, so I try not to impeded it too much; need to get to sleep early, or at least sleep on the train to and from work. The problem is, with "He, She and It", I feel compelled to squeak in another chapter... or force my eyes open to get in at least one more page. These characters are so complex, and the deeper twists and turns are so enticing that I'm willing to forgo my already limited sleep just to get a few more words in. As a massive football fan, I'm actually regretting that I "have to" go watch the Superbowl on Sunday, instead of reading. Hopefully I'll finish the book on my plane ride... except, then I'll be clamoring for a sequel. Marge Piercy has created an amazing world, and I need to see what other work she's got for me... and can only hope that Shira, Yod and Malka are some how involved.

Science fiction, romance, philosophy and more
This is one of my favorite books, and I am delighted that it has been reissued. The issues with which it deals, domineering corporate control, the internet, development of ever more sophisticated computers, global warming and its results, are even more timely and pertinent now than when the book was written 20 years ago. The author deals with the dilema of humanoid computers (cyborgs), and the parallel story of the ancient golem of Prague is very apt. This book contains plenty of action as well as romance and philosophy. There is also a much needed glimmer of hope (Tikva, the name of the town where most of the story takes place, means "hope"). The undaunted spirit and strength of the female protagonists is inspiring. It's a long book, but well worth the time.
