Favourite book from childhood, so happy to have found it again

My favourite childhood book!
Long before Harry Potter and Twilight came along and made me yearn to write magical books, was THIS BOOK!! I first borrowed this book at age 10 from my school library. It was named 'A witch in the family' in Australia. And I borrowed it so many times, our school librarian actually banned me from borrowing it. 😂 ( Very fond memories of Mrs McCourt guiding me around by the arm saying; surely there are other books aside from this one that you'd like to read!)😍 I believe it may have later been banned from schools due to the content ( Kids involved in a séance and other witchy charms) But I do want to say the story is SOOO much more than that. It's not only filled with magic and wonder through the eyes of children, it's about a family adjusting to new family dynamics- a mother who passed away and the awesome new step-mum, Molly, who inspired me to name my favourite character in my series after her. The crazy search for magic and ghosts in a spooky old house is really just the backdrop for a heart-warming bond between a boy and his new ( and very difficult) step-sister. I re-read it often just to remind myself of the magic that really does exist. ❤️

Still scares me.
I read this book when I was in 5th grade and it scared me! Now I'm a junior in high school and I still couldn't read the book at night by myself in my room! :P This really is an exciting book, I love all of the characters! I could read it over and over again!!

My Favorite Childrens Author!
This was purchased as gift for my niece who turned 11. She's a reader. When I was about her age I LIVED at my school's library.. The librarian was my idol I read everything I could get my hands on by Zilpha Keatley Snyder; particularly relating to her characters for being "different" and supernaturally inclined. The librarian arranged for me to travel with her (quite a distance I remember) to meet Ms. Snyder at a luncheon after she was presented an award...it was the best day of my life. I was thrilled to find this book, still popular with children and still in print.

A fun book to pass the time
I thought this book was a decent. The cover caught my eye and made me want to read it. It was a little hard at the beginning to understand because there are so many step-sisters. Upon reading further into the story it was easier to understand. I liked how the author described the house where the step-sisters lived. It was very entertaining, I give it 4 stars.
