An unread novel
A thousand words may tell a picture, but this is a novel. I almost gave up after the first couple of chapters filled with excessive description. I persisted to find that, eventually, a story was being told. Unfortunately, I began to find reading the story was more of a chore and challenge, even though I was familiar with the locale. I have more involving stories to read.

A fascinating plot in an unusual setting. Too much dialogue that holds back the action and much which doesn't add to character development;;;so many characters seem to come and go and reappear that one loses their context in the plot

Really enjoyed it.
I love his writing. May not be of as much interest to people with little interest in music, particularly of that period.

One of Koch's best
Excellent yarn giving insights regarding Australia. The novel has a highly original plot and maintains considerable tension. Extremely well done.

Three Stars
Have read many Christopher Koch novels. Found this novel less enjoyable than his other works.
