Work Information
It quietly brings the contours of the 'Gloomy Dean' into focus as a biographical portrait.
Dean Inge can be read as a biography that follows both William Ralph Inge's religious thought and his public voice. Rather than reducing his character to anecdote, it gives the portrait depth by showing the intellectual friction and stimulation he created in his own time.
