Reviews

  • As Advertised

    As Advertised all good

  • art imitating life

This is another one of Wiesel's Holocaust-based novels, in which his protagonist undergoes transformations based upon his coming to terms with the meaning he finds in his personal experiences as a Holocaust survivor. While the meaning of God's actions are often beyond our ability to comprehend, God is always there and, regardless of our inability to understand, there is meaning. Wiesel, with this and others of his Holocaust novels, escorts us (like Beatrice escorts Dante) through a deep, personal journey of discovery and understanding.

  • I really enjoy this author's books

I really enjoy this author's books. This one took some time getting into because of the references to Judiaism. I am not Jewish, so I'm working on it a bit harder! Well written as are all his books!

  • Great book. Just so beat up.

The book is a marvel. But the condition is very shabby. Bounded by cellotape. Wrinkled and stained. A shame this was not highlighted.

  • Challenging!

Very hard to understand, but it did pique my interest in the 6 Day War.
