Looks at the history of race relations in the U.S., argues that the courts are prejudiced against Blacks, and suggests ways to combat racism in America

Reviews

  • If "white" people think they know why so many black men are sent to prison they need to read this. Another great book is High Price by Dr. Carl Hart. The institutionalized racism in this country has done immense harm to everyone. It has taken our country in a downward spiral. "White" people (I happen to be "white") have no clue about what life is really like for people of color whether they grew up rich or poor. A Dream Foreclosed by Laura Gottesdiener, another great book, explains the basic reasons people of color have been kept from advancing financially. Note: I don't like labeling people "black", "of color" or "white" because we're all the same. If you know anything about DNA we're 99% the same. There's no such thing as race. And we're all related. So why are we so horrible to others who look different than us or who have a different culture than us? We're all connected.

  • Ecellent read. Enlightening how a african american judge endured blatant racism amongst his peers and white counterparts in the justice system. Black balled by judiciary committees and heavily criticized whenever he addressed racial disparities. Highly recommended if you want to learn about the workings of the justice system from a insider black perspective.

  • Thought provoking look inside the justice system from the perspective of a true insider.

  • Excellent book an exegesis on the crisis of being a black lawyer in America, where even a judgeship is no shield against racism nor hubris. Recommend to all lawyers and judges whether black or white!
