A tribute to the spirit of Native Americans, based on a true story, offers a poignant look at the forgotten history of Indian residential schools, following two homesick brothers in the 1930s who leave school for an exciting journey home.

Reviews

  • Timeless, fantastic illustration of a true California story

Beautiful illustrations and narrative of a true, and rarely told, story about Indian boarding schools. This book is a perfect, age appropriate telling of two young brothers that ends in a welcome return home. I especially recommend it to anyone teaching California history, or history of indigenous people in elementary school. It should be in every school library.
