Winner of the Governor General's Literary Award for Children's Illustrated Book A New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year In this wordless picture book, a little girl collects wildflowers while her distracted father pays her little attention. Each flower becomes a gift, and whether the gift is noticed or ignored, both giver and recipient are transformed by their encounter. “Written” by award-winning poet JonArno Lawson and brought to life by illustrator Sydney Smith, Sidewalk Flowers is an ode to the importance of small things, small people and small gestures. Correlates to the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.1.7 Use illustrations and details in a story to describe its characters, setting, or events.

  • 日本から注文

    大体、1ヶ月半ぐらいで届きました。 台詞一つも無く、絵だけで淡々と進んでいきます。 綺麗で文句無しです。嬉しい。 ありがとうございました。

  • Very nice picture book(evaluation by Japanese)

There is no sentence at all. imagination. Begin She Loves roadside flowers. Next She Offer love flowers to people. Last She Offer love flowers to Herself. She taught me something very important. Very important picture book.

  • Trying to be too cute.

Drawing is not very good. There is nothing subtle in the way the daughter and her father are drawn. Too much of caricatures. Also in every page, only colored image is the daughter's read coat. In the end, it gets tiresome.

  • Sweet story with lovely illustrations

This is a lovely book. People who know downtown Toronto will recognize some of the neighborhoods shown in the illustrations. My 2 year old daughter really enjoys this book and I enjoy telling her the story in my own words each time.

  • muy bonito

Un libro muy lindo cuando se explica, es difícil explicar que la niña arranque las flores pero el mensaje final de hacer actos por los demás es muy bonito, para niños de 2 1/2 hasta 5 años funciona muy bien

  • Beautiful and full of meaning

This book is quiet in the best way possible! The illustrations move from black and white to colorful, expressing the inner world and mood of the main character. There are subtle internal jokes, such as the only person on the crosswalk illustrated with color (not Black and White), was a woman reading a book. Lovely and beautiful. My 3-year old son loves it, and each page is a wonderful conversation started.

  • Splendide illustrazioni
