Prairie Style (American Literature)
A poetry collection by C. S. Giscombe that re-reads landscape through place, voice, and racial perception while moving between poetry and prose.
Work Information
A poetry collection that turns geography into an unsettled meeting point of voice and memory.
Invoking Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie Style, the collection overlays American geography with Black experience. Its short sections quietly reconsider movement, dwelling, and the politics of looking.

I bought this for a class. I found it very difficult to read, and I didn't understand hardly any of it until we talked/analyzed it in class. I'm not a dumb person but this book made me feel like a complete moron... staring at the page with my jaw hanging slack trying to force the verses to make sense.... I enjoyed studying it in class but I will probably never pick this book up again (which is totally not Giscombe's fault, I suppose I'm just too dense/impatient to "get it" on my own lol)
