The book world has been taken by storm with Jonathan Littells brilliant novel written in and currently available only in French. A view of the the Nazi attrocities told through an SS officer living in France provides for a chilling and engrossing reading experience. The book is already a monumental bestseller in France and has publishers worldwide scrambling for the rights.

This is a very thought-provoking beautifully written book. I have not actually finished it yet, but thoroughly recommend it. I am reading it in French as it was written in French. I hope the English translation would live up to the French.

I heard the book review on Nat'l. Public Radio and subsequently bought it for my brother on his birthday. (He is fluent in French.) He has told me over and over again how impressed he is with the dark story of a WWII SS officer, and he remarked that the book is very well written. I'm looking forward to the English version!

Un roman intense et captivant. L’écriture est riche et très documentée, ce qui rend l’histoire prenante malgré sa densité. Certains passages sont difficiles, mais c’est ce qui rend le livre si marquant. Je recommande à ceux qui aiment les récits
