Faszinierend und unter die Haut gehend

Irène Némirovsky beschreibt die Auswirkungen des Zweiten Weltkriegs auf die „normalen“ Menschen in Frankreich. Schon allein das ist eine ungewohnte Perspektive für die deutsche Leserin. Der sehr kurze Abstand zum Ersten Weltkrieg wird durch die Erinnerungen, die bei den Einzelnen auftauchen, deutlich gemacht. Der faszinierenste Teil ist dann die Beziehung zwischen einer jungen Französin und einem deutschen Offizier, die alle Feindschaft ausser Kraft setzt. Oder eben doch nicht?

An incredible view of German occupation

The story is tragic with some hilarious references but having read it in French, the writing is so beautiful that some chapters (the cat's excursion outdoors) stand on their own as pure poems. Couldn't help but reread many of them. BTW this was my second reading of this novel; I read it when it came out and the magnificient BBC movie (on Netflix) sent me back to it.

Es un libro conmovedor, te mantiene en alerta desde el principio, y describe diversas situaciones de los refugiados de guerra, que te hace también reflexionar sobre la dramática situación de los refugiados de hoy.
