アメリカのオピオイドまん延の強烈な事実が書かれています。 ただ，内容はかなり冗長で，読むのに時間がかかります。 disney+でドラマ化された本作品が鑑賞できます。 そちらをみることをぜひお薦めします。 いずれにしても，強烈な内容です。 麻薬を処方する医療従事者は必読，必見の内容です。

知るべき問題だけど、、、
ドキュメンタリー番組でアメリカのオピオイド問題のことを知りました。中毒者の映像が本当に衝撃的で、やせ細って、ふらふらとしか歩けず、オピオイドのために何でもする姿は見ていてつらかったし、現実とは信じ難かったです。 でも、もっと知るべきだと思って本書を買いました。 ぜひ読むべき一冊だと思います。 ただ、訳者によるまえがきに加え、文庫版には訳者のあとがきまで追加されているのは解せないです。 訳者の本職がジャーナリストだから言いたいことがあったのかもしれませんが、これは著者ベス・メイシーさんの取材に基づいて執筆された書籍であり、そこに訳者が自らの見解を付け加えるのはどうなんでしょうか。
