クリスマス・キャロル
Lisbeth Zwerger is an Austrian illustrator born in Vienna in 1954. She made her debut in 1977 illustrating E.T.A. Hoffmann's "The Strange Child," and went on to create picture book illustrations for classics including Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, and Charles Dickens. Known for her distinctive style of dreamlike watercolors and delicate linework, she received the Hans Christian Andersen Award for Illustration in 1990 in recognition of her lifetime contribution to children's literature. ずっと探してた本でした
何かのカスみたいの2つ､髪の毛一本はさまってました。すぐ取り除きました。こんな時は写真を撮っておくべきでしたが… がっかりして悲しかった｡ ずっと探してた本なので早く来たのはうれしかったのですが｡

とにかくこの挿絵にひかれて購入しました。子供への読み聞かせには、数日がかりになりそうなほどに長いですが、クリスマスまでのカウントダウンを兼ねて１週間ぐらい前から少しずつ読んでいこうかと思います。

『クリスマスキャロル』と言えば、チャールズ・ディケンズの世界の名作中の名作なので、 ストーリーをご存知の方が大半だと思います。 私が、数多く出版されている『クリスマスキャロル』この本を特にお薦めしたいのは、 大型本でサイズが35cmもあり、そこに繊細なリスベート・ツヴェルガーの挿絵が惜しげもなく 使われている点です。彼女らしい優しい色使いの大人の心も温まる絵本に仕上がっていると思います。 Lisbeth Zwergerの挿絵さえあれば...と言う方には、洋書にも同じ挿絵を使った本がありますが 母国語の日本語の文章を味わいながら見る彼女の挿絵は、一段と素敵です。
