Karol Modzelewski has a fascinating life story to tell. Born in Soviet Union to Polish parents, adopted by a prominent Polish communist who was a diplomat and official in post-war government, eventually turned away from the Communist orthodoxy and became one of the leaders of opposition and of Solidarnosc movement. Also an accomplished academic medieval history scholar. Fascinating book, strongly recommended (available in Polish). Although I ordered it through Amazon, for some reason the book was sent from Leipzig, Germany. It took more than a month. I should have ordered directly from Poland.
