楽しくておいしいシリーズ
生粋のN.Y娘フェイスが、たまたま知り合った男性トムと恋に落ち、仕事を捨てて結婚。ところがトムは、ニューイングランドの片田舎での牧師だった。ニューイングランドへやってきたフェイスだが、平和でのんきな村に殺人事件が起こる…。 アガサ賞最優秀処女長篇賞に輝いただけあって、何ともウィットのきいたミステリーです。主人公のフェイスはもちろん、温厚で素敵な旦那さまのトム、近所に住んでいるミリセント(こういう口うるさい小姑タイプのおばちゃんは、平和な村には欠かせません)など、脇役も個性的で何ともGood!まだどこか少女のような一面を残した若妻、フェイスの活躍が爽快です。 ダイアン・デヴィットソンの『クッキングママ・シリーズ』と並行して読むことをお勧めします。
