レビュー

  • I bought a few copies of "Tyrell" to read with a couple of teenage boys at a camp for incarcerated youth when I was doing a short internship there in graduate school. The boys loved the book so much that I ended up gifting them the sequel, "Bronxwood." Now, I have both books in my 7th grade ELA classroom available for students to sign out. "Tyrell" never lasts long on the shelf, and every kid who reads it falls in love with it. The student currently reading it, despite his "tough guy" appearance, hasn't put it down since I gave it to him. I just purchased him his own copy, as well as his own copy of the sequel. Good books like this stick with you, and I want him to always be able to go back to it. I am incredibly grateful to Booth for writing a story that so many kids can relate to and enjoy reading.

  • I looooove this book. Coa Booth is an amazing author. It'll make you laugh and cry and appreciate life. I've read it at least 4 times and I still cant get enough.

  • Good read, funny in places, sad for him & his brother throughout his young life, disappointed with the ending!!

  • Wow this book was one that I couldn't set down, the pacing was fantastic and the plot engaging. I would suggest this book for anyone trying to get a better perspective on how the culture of poverty affects the youth and their families both physically and mentally.

  • I loved this novel mostly because there were no faeries, vampires or werewolves. This novel was told through the eyes of a young teen named Tyrell and it was very believable. The prose was spot on and the use of the first person present tense made you feel as though you were walking in Tyrell's shoes. I would definitely recommend this novel to young teens who are looking for a realistic read.
