Eiko Kadono made her debut as an author in 1970. Her best-known work, Kiki’s Delivery Service , was first published in 1985 and later adapted into an animated film, as well as stage and live-action productions. The beloved series also includes Kiki and the New Magic and Kiki and the Other Witch . Kadono has published nearly two hundred original works and received numerous accolades, including the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 2018 and recognition on the IBBY Honor List for Kiki’s Delivery Service . In 2023, the Kiki’s Museum of Literature opened in Tokyo in celebration of her work.

日本人作家の英訳本なので、英語が読みやすい！
ネイティブの作家が書いた本と違い、日本人作家の英訳本なので、英語が読みやすい！ それに結構分厚くて、丁寧なイラストも挿入されて、大変お買い得！ 人気はかなりある本なのかも。ジブリとは無関係なイメージが少し人気を下げているかも知れないが、それだからむしろ良い。ジブリは独自の内容を付け加えている。 中学生からの多読習慣には最適！ 一つ気になる事を見つけた。表紙の一番上と裏表紙の新聞社による書評で、どう見てもアニメに影響された本と書いてある様に読める。これは作家の名誉の為に言っておかないといけないが、逆である。 I found something that concerns me. In the top of the cover and the back cover, the book review by the newspaper makes it look like it was influenced by anime. I have to say this for the honor of the author, but it's the opposite.

英語版を読んでみたかった
『魔女の宅急便』の英語版が無いか試しに探したら、本当にあったので購入しました。タイトルは主人公の名前、キキを使った『キキの宅急便』なのが不思議でした。全ての小説に当てはまりますが、先に日本語版を読んでからの方が理解しやすいと思います。

アニメしか知らないけれど
英語の勉強のため購入。日本語版の小説は読んだことがないけれど、アニメの魔女の宅急便が好きなので楽しく読めた。結構アニメと異なる部分もあり、アニメでは見られなかった設定も書いてあり、新鮮な気分だった。 ネイティブなら小学校の図書室に置いてあるレベルだろうか。大学受験のために英語を勉強していた人なら読めるのではないかと思う。やっぱり大学受験とは出てくる単語が少し違う気もするけれど。

日本語版を7歳のときに読んで、宝物でした。軽い英語学習のために購入しましたが、訳の仕方が本の雰囲気にぴったり合っていて良訳だと思います。

A well-written story that really exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be strictly similar to the movie, but it turned out to be much more lengthy and rich!

É uma história infantil, dito isso, é muito boa e divertida, se você gostou do filme provavelmente vai amar o livro, os personagens são mais desenvolvidos e tem cenas legais, inclusive preferi os do livro. Sobre a edição: é bem estilo paperback americano, mas as folhas são de jornal (são cinzas e tem até o mesmo cheiro). É um ótimo livro pra pré adolescentes, o inglês é de fácil a intermediário (a autora usa sinônimos complicadinhos, mas não tem diálogos complexos ou descrições muito extravagantes).
