レビュー

  • No me gusta esta novela y no creo q pueda terminarla

  • Fin, drôle, triste, bouquin parfait pour 1 week end à la campagne, avec sa mère ou pas.

  • Mr. Weyergans is a well read, well published, well traveled and a very cultivated author. Trois Jours Chez Ma Mère is autobiographical in nature. Many of his observations - particularly those on various works of literature - are interesting and insightful. Personally, I didn't come away admiring him very much. He consistently cheats on his wife and revels in the fact and starts projects that he has trouble completing and actually publishing mainly because he gets sidetracked by short-term passionate affairs.

  • This book was chosen for my French book club. Had that not been the case I doubt I could have struggled through to the end. Briefly it's the the story of a writer (François Weyergraf - yes, very similar to the actual author's name) who is struggling to write a novel and we are invited to share with him his boredom, attempts at distraction, reminiscences of previous love affairs, feelings of guilt for not contacting or going to see his mother, etc. Within the book is another novel, or novella, titled Trois Jours Chez Ma Mère. It is one of the most boring, tedious, preening books I have ever read, and the fact that is has won a literary prize in France surprises me not at all. The other members of the book group were of a like mind, and the person who chose it struggled to defend her choice. Yes, she had already read it - twice! The second time to try and understand what she had missed the first time. I'm not sure she missed anything, there is just nothing to appreciate in this book.

  • Déçu de ce prix Goncourt, de l'histoire de la façon dont l'auteur l'a traitée. Cela aurait pu être savoureux mais je n'ai pas retouvé le goût ni les parfums dont l'auteur est capable de recréer sous sa plume!
