Legacy
Festus Iyayi was a prominent Nigerian social realist writer and academic, known for his contributions as a University of Benin lecturer and as a leader of the ASUU trade union. His works critiqued political and social structures and influenced readers and activists. His death in a 2013 road accident was a major shock to Nigeria's academic and labor communities.
