Legacy
Gerald Stern was a major American poet active from the late 20th century into the early 21st century, recipient of the National Book Award, Ruth Lilly Prize, and the Bobbitt National Prize. He influenced many through his teaching and served as the first Poet Laureate of New Jersey.
